This workshop explores the relaxing craft of slow stitch embroidery from a modern perspective and offers a fresh approach on hand stitching. We start off with an explanation of what the “slow stitch” movement is and how stitching can be used as a mindfulness tool. From there, we will review a few embroidery techniques that take simple stitches and use them in new and interesting ways to create eye-catching patterns. These techniques are simple enough for beginner students but still engaging for those with more stitching experience. After sharing and discussing some examples, students will be able to choose a sample pattern or create their own and stitch it onto a cotton tote bag. All supplies are provided including the tote bag and embroidery tools which are yours to take home.
