Our mission statement

The Pembina Hills Arts Council is a non-profit that encourages and facilitates the growth and diversity of arts and culture for the Pembina Valley Region by providing an inclusive and dynamic environment where creativity is experienced, developed and shared.

Pembina Hills Arts Council values

  • Diversity and Accessibility: welcoming and accommodating all people

  • Education and Enrichment: offering a diverse program responding to an ever-changing and fluid art world

  • Community Input and Involvement: responding to people’s interests in the arts

  • Fostering Creativity: offering a safe environment for artistic expression

  • Building Relationships: with the staff, artists, instructors, volunteers, partners and communities

  • Financial responsibility: effectively utilizing time and resources

  • Truth and Reconciliation: committed to learning how we can incorporate this into our organization and taking action

We accomplish this at our Clocktower building through monthly exhibitions, a variety of art classes and workshops, educational sessions, membership gallery and handmade gift store. We also have several satellite galleries and outreach programs throughout the region. The PHAC has two paid staff members.

  • Executive Director – 40 hours/week

  • Administrative Assistant (Gallery Attendant) – 25 hours/week

Our Board of Directors meets a minimum of 8 times per calendar year. Our board is also responsible for several major fundraisers each year, as well as volunteering as much as possible for other events or programs. Each member is expected to be on at least one committee. A term of office is three years, however first year appointments may be for one year.
